The revised rules for the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs caused by the coronavirus pandemic helped Tampa Bay Lightning's Russian goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevsky break the league record. His stats are available on the NHL website.
Vasilevsky reflected 26 shots on his goal and set an NHL record for the number of victories in one playoff draw – 17. The coronavirus pandemic led to a pause, they decided to end the regular season, and the preliminary and group rounds were added to the playoffs. The Russian won three victories in them. Prior to this, the goalkeepers 25 times managed to win 16 victories in the playoffs.
Tampa beat Dallas Stars in Game 4 of the NHL Playoffs Finals. The meeting ended in overtime with a score of 5: 4. Tampa are leading the streak to four wins – 3-1. The next match will take place on September 27 at 3 am Moscow time.
Vasilevsky has been playing for Tampa since 2014. As part of the Russian national team, the goalkeeper became the world champion.
