The death of Marco Tampwo stunned football Italy. The kicker was only 19 years old. His club, fourth division Atletico Terme Fiuggi, confirmed the tragedy.
As the sports newspaper “Gazzetta dello Sport” reports, Tampwo died on Sunday of a heart attack. He would have been infected with Corona just a few days earlier. The Roman felt bad and headed for the hospital, writes the journal.
He collapsed in front of the front door. Although rescue workers were quickly on site, he did not survive the heart attack. Tampwo lived with his parents in Mentana, which is around 20 kilometers from the Italian capital Rome.
The exact circumstances of death are examined at the autopsy.
Tampwo had only played for Fiuggi for four weeks. He had come from US Pianese that summer. His club writes on Facebook: “President Davide Ciaccia and the whole club Atletico Terme Fiuggi mourn the loss of footballer Marco Tampwo, who arrived a few weeks ago. Today he passed away much too early at the age of only 19. We are at a loss for words in the face of this tragedy. “
