Corona: 100 million vaccination doses are now going to China

The Chinese pharmaceutical company Fosun Pharma has ordered 100 million doses of the corona vaccine from the Mainz-based company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer. Half of it should be delivered by the end of the year, Fosun Pharma announced on Wednesday. The agreement has a volume of 250 million euros.

Installment payment & partial delivery

A first tranche of 125 million euros will be due upon delivery of the first 50 million doses, the second installment should be transferred as soon as the Chinese authorities give the green light for the vaccine. China has already developed several of its own corona vaccines and ramped up the corresponding production capacities. Corporations from the People's Republic also rely on partnerships with foreign companies to ensure that the Chinese population is supplied with vaccines.

The Biontech-Pfizer vaccine has already received emergency approval in several countries, including the US, UK and Singapore. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is advising on the approval of the vaccine next Monday.
