In Russia, a soldier was accused of high treason and spying for Ukraine: he was sentenced 13 years in prison.

Senior Lieutenant Ruslan Artykov was detained back in 2019. He allegedly performed the tasks of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Artykov was in jail for almost three years.

This is reported by the Russian mass media.

The Russian FSB detained a military man because it became aware that he allegedly collected data from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. In particular, it was about information of a military nature in relation to the Russian Armed Forces, “the leakage of which abroad caused damage to the state's defense capability.”

A military court deprived Artykov of the rank of senior lieutenant and sentenced him to 13 years. The punishment will take place in a penal colony with a strict regime.

The court session was held behind closed doors. After him, it was reported that the defendant confessed to his deed and admitted his guilt. By the way, until the verdict came into force.

Ruslan Artykov, 1991. He was a contract soldier and served in the 175th command brigade of the Southern Military District. The place of his deployment was the city of Aksai, Rostov region.
