Now there is information that Russian specialists have begun construction of a new model of such an aircraft, RIA Novosti writes, citing anonymous insiders from the military-industrial complex.
The newest wide-body Il-96-400M will act as a base for the novelty. At the same time, the Aerospace Forces will receive two such aircraft on the balance sheet at once. In the future, it is possible that a third air command post will also be ordered.
At the moment, the project is called “Link-3C”. With the help of the plane, it will be possible to give direct orders to ground and submarine launchers within a radius of 6 thousand km.
