Obviously, the politician did this unintentionally.
US President Joe Biden commented on his slip of the tongue during his speech at the NATO summit. He said that he accidentally confused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, what's more, he immediately apologized and corrected himself.
He said this during a press conference broadcast by the Voice of America.
“The most successful summit”
The head of the White House was asked about his slip of the tongue in which he confused Zelensky with Putin. The journalist added that the German Chancellor, the French President and the British Prime Minister apologized for the American leader.
“Have you seen a more successful conference? Do you see the harm it does? I said about Putin at the very end and immediately corrected myself. I said: “No, I apologize, not Putin, but Zelensky,” – he noted.
The President of the United States considers the Washington summit “the most successful” in a very long time. This is evidenced by the reactions of many leaders of states. Biden pointed out that at this summit, the leaders of states repeatedly thanked.
“Many people thanked me and said that we achieved this thanks to Biden, thanks to the leadership of the United States. I think this was the most successful summit in a very long time. And find me a world leader who thinks differently,” – said the US President.
Recall that US President Joe Biden, while giving the floor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on stage, mistakenly called him “Putin”. This happened during the American leader's speech at the Ukraine Compact events on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington. The American leader immediately realized the mistake and corrected himself.
