The taxi driver was supposed to deliver tourists from Tbilisi airport to a hotel in the city, but on the way, passengers demanded that the driver turn off Ukrainian music.
A conflict broke out between them on this basis. As a result, the taxi driver went in the opposite direction, climbed the Gombori Pass, where he dropped off the Russians and left.
At the same time, according to European Pravda, the Georgian prosecutor's office subsequently published a statement with a different version of events: according to it, the conflict was over money.
The Russians filed a lawsuit against the driver, saying that he had kidnapped and illegally imprisoned them on a national basis.
The taxi driver was threatened with a term of 7 to 10 years in prison.
However, the jury ruled that the actions of the taxi driver do not fall under part 3 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (Illegal imprisonment of two or more persons). According to the lawyer, the meeting ended with a score of 12:0.
