Western-built hypersonic missiles are not a big problem for Russian anti-aircraft missile systems, since Russia can successfully shoot them down. This statement was made by the general designer of the Almaz-Antey concern, Pavel Sozinov.
“Any hypersonic missile – both existing and which will be potentially created in the foreseeable future – is within our reach,” RIA Novosti quotes the words of the general designer.
Sozinov pointed out that the increase in missile speed itself does not have significant unpleasant consequences. According to him, any hypersonic target only at high altitude is capable of flying to the target at its maximum speed, however, as it approaches the target, it decreases, enters the atmosphere and eventually loses speed.
“There are other nuances, which I will not go into … The topic of developing” super missiles “abroad does not create any noticeable problems for us, we know where to develop in this area,” the specialist noted.
The General Designer added that the Almaz-Antey concern has long existed in a “hypersonic reality”, since almost all ballistic missiles used by the concern's anti-aircraft missile systems have hypersonic speeds. As noted by Sozinov, missiles of the Almaz-Antey anti-aircraft systems are also capable of developing hypersonic speeds, and “this is also not news.”
We will remind, earlier there was information that the United States is creating new hypersonic missiles in response to the successes of Russia.
