A 33-year-old man was arrested in Rivne region, who was after an unsuccessful robbery of a rural store decided to burn it.
The incident took place on December 31 in the village of Stavishche, Dubensky district. After waiting for the store to close, the attacker pushed the grate with his hands, damaged the window and got inside.
A strange noise in the closed store was heard by local residents: it was they who called the police. After that, people began to approach the front door to prevent the criminal from escaping.
When the man realized that he was surrounded, he decided to make a fire right in the store. To do this, he collected unnecessary pieces of paper and tore the blinds out of the window.
After the police arrived, the 33-year-old man was detained: in order to take out the loot, he took with him a sack from under the potatoes. Fortunately, a large-scale fire and destruction of the store were avoided.
In a bag with & # 8220; New Year's gifts & # 8221; law enforcement officers found:
- a bottle of cognac;
- 30 packs of cigarettes;
- 45 lighters;
- 24 pairs socks;
- electric kettle.
The detainee was a man from the village of Privetnoye in the same district (about 15 km from the crime scene). He has repeatedly come to the attention of the police, and was last released from prison two months ago.
Criminal proceedings are open under part 3 of article 15 (Attempted crime) and part .3 Article 185 (Theft with penetration) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
If the court proves the guilt of a man, he faces three to six years behind bars. The pre-trial investigation continues.
