By the middle of the 21st century, heat waves will reach Moscow and the Urals and will constantly intensify. Alexey Kokorin, Director of the Climate and Energy Program of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in the Russian Federation, spoke about this. He is quoted by the publication URA.RU.
“Heat waves will be more frequent. They will hit both the latitude of Moscow and the latitude of Yekaterinburg by the middle of the century, ”said Kokorin.
Alexander Chernokulsky, Chief Researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, agrees with this opinion. He notes that Russia will gradually turn into sultry Africa. This process will be smooth.
“Not that every year will be warmer than the previous one. Not. There will be some fluctuations, but the general background will grow, ”the scientist said.
According to him, due to the intensification of heat waves, a turning point is taking place in the minds of Russians.
“It happened earlier in Europe. They have had heat waves for several years already, ”the specialist concluded.
