Climatologist warned Russians about unpredictable winter

by alex

Vasily Yablokov, Head of Climate and Energy at Russia's Greenpeace, promised the residents of Russia weather records for the coming winter. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to Sputnik radio.

According to him, making a weather forecast is becoming more difficult every year. Climate change is changing atmospheric processes, and this complicates the work. In recent years, meteorologists have faced great difficulties, the inaccuracy of some forecasts is not their fault, the climatologist noted.

“The usual circulation in air masses is changing. Any unexpected processes associated, for example, with warming in the Arctic, can have an extremely unpredictable effect on the weather, ”the expert explained.

He added that earlier weather anomalies were much less common than now. In his opinion, the likelihood of such anomalies in the coming winter is quite high. It can come as a “classic” winter, which swept the country at the beginning of this and at the end of last year, and abnormal precipitation, as it was in the winter of 2019-2020.

Due to the general “nervousness” of the climate in winter, Russians may face both temperature records and abnormal precipitation, Yablokov concluded.
