The Greek church has appealed to believers to be vaccinated.
On Thursday, November 4, the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church (EOC) called on believers and clergy in Greece to comply with enhanced protection against coronavirus.
According to TASS, citing the Archdiocese of Athens, unvaccinated citizens will have to take a rapid test or PCR test for coronavirus in order to visit the temple.
A circulating circular from the Holy Synod says that those who have not received vaccinations “must come with a previously made diagnostic test (express test or PCR test) “. At the same time, the clergy urged citizens to be vaccinated.
This document also requires priests, singers, monks and other temple staff to take two tests per week (rapid test or PCR test). Control will be exercised by church councils.
At the government level, Greece has introduced new restrictions on unvaccinated citizens from Saturday, November 6. Without a COVID-19 test, entry to banks, government services, department stores, entertainment venues and hairdressing salons will be prohibited. Grocery stores, pharmacies and churches remain open to all.
This exception for crowded temples has angered opposition parties, who have said either vaccinated citizens or unvaccinated citizens with negative test results should come to church for coronavirus. The government did not support the opposition's demands, but the church itself decided to resolve the conflict situation.
As a reminder, in Ivano-Frankivsk region, tourists will be able to visit recreation and recreation complexes only if they have a vaccination certificate, a coronavirus test, or a certificate of recovery from COVID-19.
