Chronicle of nature: a meteorological station appeared in the Zigalga National Park
The chronicle of nature began to be kept in the Urals. A meteorological station has appeared in the Zigalga National Park. It will help predict changeable weather near mountain ranges and make tourist routes safer, says MIR 24 correspondent Anna Parpura.
“If we move from the foot of the ridge, the climate there will be continental, and at the top there is already a subarctic climate,” said Pavel Kudryavtsev, an expert on scientific work and environmental monitoring.
In the Zigalga National Park, he conducts environmental monitoring. Explores the local nature and how it changes over the years. But even he can hardly predict what the weather will be in half an hour – the sun will come out or a hurricane will start.
“Now the weather has changed, perhaps the storm will hit us. A sharp temperature drop is typical here, ”Kudryavtsev noted.
The weather station will now tell you how the weather is changing. It was installed here at the end of June. Modern equipment transmits data to the duty officer using a radio transmitter.
“The weather station shows us the temperature, air humidity, atmospheric pressure. Now, for example, it has rained, we see that one millimeter of precipitation has fallen. The rate of precipitation, the predominant direction of the wind rose, ”said Kudryavtsev.
Experts will record the results of observations in the chronicle of nature – this is a scientific document of the national park. The weather station will also help local residents. In the village of Tyulyuk, which is located nearby, everyone knows about the treacherous weather of the Ural mountains.
“There is a situation when it is clear and sunny below, a person went uphill, on a mountain – a hurricane and rain. It is worse in winter, when people walk here in sunny, calm weather, and there is a blizzard, a hurricane upstairs, the road is covered with snow, ”said a local resident Artem Lopatin.
Zigalga is one of the largest mountain ranges in the Southern Urals. In 2019, a national park was created there. More and more tourists come there every season. They are not always ready for weather tests.
“Heat, stuffiness gives way to a thunderstorm. This can be done several times during the day. August and autumn are fogs, such that you cannot see at arm's length. There are often situations when tourists go to the mountains and it is very difficult for them to descend, because they cannot see anything, ”said local resident Irina Bitskaya.
Previously, the data came from a weather station, which is 60 kilometers away. It was very difficult for them to predict the weather in the national park. Even a strong hurricane is not afraid of new equipment. In the event of a power outage, the station will switch to autonomous mode thanks to the batteries.
