Last Friday, July 16, Beijing successfully tested its reusable suborbital ship. This is stated in a statement by the China Corporation of Space Science and Technology (CASC).
The spacecraft was launched from the Jiuquan Cosmodrome in Gansu province in the northwest of the country, after which the Chinese ship made a successful horizontal landing at the Alashan Yuqi airfield, which is located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the north of China.
As noted by the Xinhua news agency, the flight “was completely successful.” According to them, this ship can be used in the space transportation system, and its successful flight “laid a solid foundation” for the further development of technologies for reusable space transportation in China.
CASC, in turn, says that the development of the reusable space transportation system is “an important symbol of China's transformation from a space power to a great space power.”
The name of the ship, as well as the duration of its flight and other details have not yet been reported.
