The State Duma purchased 450 phones from the Chinese company Realme, according to the number of deputies in the lower house of parliament. The total cost of the purchase was 4.3 million rubles. Smartphones with two SIM cards, an eight-core processor and at least 64 gigabytes of memory will be supplied by the Moscow Sales Center company. From 17 to 19 September, the Russians elected a new composition of the Duma.
All smartphones purchased by the State Duma will work in fourth-generation cellular networks (4G), support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, as well as a fingerprint scanner.
According to a 2016 government decree, federal government officials are severely limited in the choice of smartphones they can purchase from the budget. Managers can buy a telephone for no more than 15,000 rubles, and their assistants can buy no more than 10,000 rubles.
In 2016, the Duma purchased 500 Alcatel One Touch 5019D smartphones for 2.6 million rubles. Then MTS won the tender.
A number of State Duma deputies confirmed to RBC that they received a budget smartphone in the last convocation. But for work, they preferred to use their own apparatus.
Realme is one of the brands of the Chinese home appliance corporation BBK Electronics. The company produces smartphones, smartwatches and other gadgets and is one of the five largest smartphone sellers in Europe. According to the company itself, in the summer of 2021 it entered the top 3 in terms of sales in Russia.
Elections to the State Duma of the eighth convocation were held from 17 to 19 September. As a result of the vote, the Russians elected 450 deputies, as well as senior officials in a number of regions. Five parties entered the Duma: United Russia, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the Liberal Democratic Party, A Just Russia – For the Truth and New People.
