Chinese scientists collect plant seeds on Everest
Chinese specialists of the Wild Plants Germplasm Storage Facility completed their mission on Everest. Scientists collected plant seeds at the height, reports Xinhua .
The expedition was attended by two groups of scientists. The specialists stayed on Everest for more than three weeks. They collected seeds there, which grow at an altitude of several thousand meters above sea level. The highest point is 6,605 meters above sea level.
In this way, the researchers obtained genetic samples that are essential for the protection of biodiversity. Such expeditions are relevant, since climate change affects the nature of the Earth.
Previously, paleontologists discovered two new types of dinosaurs in England. The bones of ancient dinosaurs date back to the early Cretaceous period, their age is over 125 million years.
