It is noted that Xi Jinping sent a telegram to Biden. The Chinese leader's statement emphasizes that the sustainable development of US-China relations is in the interests of both countries. Vice President of China Wang Qishan, in turn, sent congratulations to future colleague Kamala Harris.

On November 13, the Chinese Foreign Ministry congratulated Biden on his election victory. Prior to this, the democrat received congratulations on the victory from Pope Francis. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not congratulate Biden, explaining that “purely formal things” need to be done in accordance with established practice and proceeding from the legal side of the case.

Biden proclaimed himself the elected president of the United States on November 7 – according to various estimates, he received from 273 to 290 electoral votes against the required 270. The current leader Donald Trump noted that his rival was in a hurry to call himself the new president.
