The sports authorities of China have staged a fight against tattoos among football players who are called up to the national teams of the country. Reported by the South China Morning Post.
The General Administration of Sports of the People's Republic of China (GAS) issued a statement urging players to remove their existing tattoos. It also introduces a strict ban on applying new images to the body.
GAS will only allow players to retain their national tattoos under special circumstances. The permission has to be approved by the team, and the images will be forced to hide under the clothes during training and matches.
In the ranking of the International Football Federation (FIFA), the Chinese team is in 74th position. In qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, the team reached the third stage. In the group of six national teams, after six rounds, the Chinese are in fifth place. The two best teams will get a direct ticket to the tournament, and one more will play in the play-offs.
