Empty street in chinese city

Chinese authorities have completely closed the city of Dongning in Heilongjiang province, located near the border with Russia, due to the risk of a local outbreak of coronavirus. This is reported by TASS with reference to the regional working group on countering the pandemic.

The agency learned that Dongning is closed for leaving, public transport does not work in the city, and residents are temporarily prohibited from using private cars. Only the military, doctors and officials responsible for combating the epidemic, as well as vending machines with food, are allowed to move.

All retail outlets and utilities of the city were obliged to conduct full testing of their personnel and provide the results of inspections of their premises for infection.

According to official Chinese figures, only five people are infected in the entire province, three of whom carry COVID-19 without severe symptoms. When a new case of infection in this part of China became known on December 10, the authorities imposed a “wartime” regime in two cities.

In early December, it was reported that, according to classified documents, China significantly underestimated statistics on patients with COVID-19 at the initial stage of the pandemic.
