The exact cause of the plane crash with more than 130 people on board is still unknown.

After the crash on Monday, March 21, of a passenger jet airliner with 132 people on board, China Eastern Airlines announced that it was halting all Boeing 737-800 flights.

Reported CNN.

“The cause of the crash is still being investigated. The company expresses its condolences to the passengers and crew members who died in this crash,” the airline said in a statement.

As you know, the Boeing 737 crashed in mountainous terrain during a flight from the southwestern city of Kunming to Guangzhou. There were 123 passengers and nine crew members on board.

Rescue operations are currently ongoing, but they are difficult due to the inaccessibility of the crash site, surrounded by mountains, access here is only along a narrow road.

The aircraft's flight altitude plummeted from 8,869 meters to 1,333.5 meters in just three minutes, according to state-run China News Service, citing VariFlight, a Chinese technology company that provides civil aviation data services.

Boeing, the manufacturer of CFM engines and the US Federal Aviation Administration are involved in the investigation of the crash. Such cooperation is standard for aviation incidents involving Boeing aircraft occurring in other countries.

A few hours after the accident, China Eastern Airlines announced that it was halting all Boeing 737-800 flights.
