China's new submarine has missiles with a range of over 10 thousand km
The Chinese People's Liberation Army's new strategic nuclear submarine can carry a missile that hits targets throughout the United States. Writes about this edition of the South China Morning Post, citing sources in the military department.
According to the newspaper, the project 094A Jin submarine, shown on April 30 to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the formation of the PLA Navy, is capable of carrying the latest solid-propellant intercontinental missiles JL-3. The missiles are said to have a range of over 10,000 km. At the same time, in some cases, the flight range can be 12 thousand km.
“The 094A submarine is a modernized version of the 094 type submarine, during its creation it was possible to solve one of the key problems associated with noise by improving the hydrokinetic and turbulent systems. This allowed it to carry more powerful JL-3 missiles,” the source said.
Before modernization, the submarine of this type was armed with a less powerful JL-2 missile. According to experts, the JL-3 missile, like its predecessor, is capable of carrying several nuclear warheads.
Earlier, the United States ruled out an interest in a military confrontation with China.
