The Chinese authorities are going to vaccinate more than half a billion people against coronavirus by the end of June this year. These plans were shared by the Chinese epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan at a meeting organized by Tsinghua University and the American Brookings Institute. Reported by CNN.
According to the expert, his source in the PRC healthcare system told him that by July the country plans to reach 40 percent of vaccinated people. This is approximately 548 million people.
So far, according to Nanshan, 3.5 percent of the population, or 51 million people, have been vaccinated against the coronavirus in China. He added that it will take the Chinese government approximately three years to achieve herd immunity.
On March 1, it was reported that China would supply vaccines to a number of developing countries as humanitarian aid. Among them are the states of South and Southeast Asia, Mongolia, Palestine, Belarus and Zimbabwe.
