China's Permanent Representative to the UN Zhang Jun, in his speech at a meeting of the organization's Security Council, noted that it was not by chance that NATO expansion aroused Russia's concern and called on the alliance to take into account its interests in the field of security. It is reported by TASS.

The diplomat stressed that, according to Beijing, the security of one country cannot be ensured by violating the security of other countries, and security in the region cannot be achieved by strengthening alliances.

“Against the backdrop of five successive rounds of NATO expansion, Russia's legitimate security concerns must be taken into account,” the permanent representative said.

Earlier, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, said at a meeting of the UN Security Council that Western countries had turned Ukraine into a pawn. In his speech, he noted that Western countries do not take into account the interests of the Ukrainian people.
