Chinese Foreign Ministry: NATO must abandon ideological prejudices for security

The Chinese Foreign Ministry called on NATO to abandon ideological prejudices and do more for the sake of international and regional security. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the PRC Foreign Ministry.
“As the largest military alliance in the world, NATO must abandon the Cold War mentality and ideological prejudices, make more efforts to maintain international and regional security and stability,” the ministry commented on Russia's proposals on security guarantees.
On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published draft agreements with NATO and the United States on security guarantees in Europe. The initiatives contain demands not to view Moscow as an adversary, not to create a threat of military escalation, and to abandon NATO's eastward expansion. Russia also proposed to the alliance countries not to include Ukraine in the organization.
