Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Beijing is closely monitoring the situation around Ukraine and called on all parties to the conflict to prevent the crisis from getting out of control. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“China is closely following the development of the situation in Ukraine, the current situation is not what we would like to see. It is necessary to effectively guarantee the safety of life and property of the civilian population, moreover, it is necessary to prevent a large-scale humanitarian crisis,” the Foreign Minister said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the process of negotiations with Ukraine. She stated that the Ukrainian side refused to negotiate with Russia and postponed them to February 26.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in the Donbass. His press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that its goal is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, and the timing of the special operation will be determined by the supreme commander.
