The Chinese manned spacecraft “Shenzhou-13”, which was launched to the space station under construction in the PRC, successfully entered orbit. This was announced by the China Manned Flight Program (CMSA).
“On October 16, 2021, the Long March 2F launch vehicle with the Shenzhou 13 manned spacecraft was launched exactly at the scheduled time from the Jiuquan Cosmodrome. After about 582 seconds, “Shenzhou-13” successfully separated from the rocket and entered the specified orbit, “it was reported.
The management added that the ship is now heading for the created national orbital station, with which it should dock in eight hours. It is specified that “Shenzhou-13” will automatically approach and dock with the main module of the Chinese space station “Tianhe” and form an orbital complex with it and the cargo ships “Tianzhou-2” and “Tianzhou-3”.
The CMSA also announced the good condition of the crew members – astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu.
The creation of the third orbital station “Tiangong” began in April and should be completed in 2022. Seven more launches are planned for the basic module “Tianhe”. The previous orbital station, Tiangong-2, was launched in September 2016, and the first, Tiangong-1, in 2011. In March 2019, Tiangong-2 was deorbited and sunk.
Experimental station “Tiangong” includes two compartments: service (instrumental and modular) and sealed laboratory and household (for accommodating astronauts) with a docking station. Station length – 12 m, maximum diameter – 3.35 m, weight – 8.5 tons.
