China intends to carry out a return mission to Mars by 2030 to collect and deliver samples from the Red Planet to Earth. This was announced during a press conference last Saturday by the official representative of the China National Space Administration Xu Hongliang.
– In the next decade, our state will continue to implement large scientific and technical projects to increase the power of the space industry. Large projects will be promoted related to the exploration of planets, the Moon, manned astronautics, the creation of rockets, satellite Internet. By about 2030, a mission will be carried out to collect and deliver samples from Mars to our planet, he said.
Let us remind you that last year China launched the Tianwen-1 automatic interplanetary station with the help of the Changzheng-5 carrier rocket. In May, the lander of the station made a successful landing on the surface of Mars – this was the first landing of a Chinese spacecraft on the surface of the Red Planet. China's Zhuzhong rover, which is part of this mission, “will investigate the soil, ionosphere and climate of Mars.
