The Chinese Foreign Ministry opposed the deployment of US ground-based medium-range missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
“China is strongly opposed to the United States deploying medium-range land-based missiles in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe in any form,” the ministry said in a statement. Beijing also noted that the Chinese side adheres to a defensive military strategy and will not use nuclear weapons first.
“China has never deployed nuclear weapons outside its territory and has never provided a” nuclear umbrella “to other countries,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry added. The department also noted the need to conclude an analogue of the START III treaty between Russia and China.
Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry accused the United States of having a serious negative impact on the global strategic balance and stability, as well as on the process of international arms control and disarmament. Commenting on Russia's withdrawal from the Open Skies Treaty (OON), the Chinese Foreign Ministry pointed out that Washington unilaterally denounced the agreement.
