Moscow. January 31st. INTERFAX.RU – China has temporarily banned all foreigners from Canada from entering the country, the Chinese consulate in Toronto said.

The message of the diplomatic mission clarifies that the ban also applies to foreigners who have a residence permit in China and a work permit. Those traveling to the PRC on personal matters and for family reunification will not be able to enter. The ban does not apply to persons with diplomatic and service visas.

According to the media, this was China's retaliatory step to the entry restrictions imposed by Canada due to fears of the spread of COVID-19.

All airline passengers arriving in Canada will have to pass the COVID-19 test at the airport and wait at the hotel for up to three days for the test results at their own expense, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said yesterday.

In the coming weeks, Canadians vacationing in the United States returning from the United States by land will have to show a negative COVID-19 test before being allowed to enter.

On Saturday, January 30, Canada reported 4,255 new cases. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 778.7 thousand people have been infected with coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic; in total, more than 19.9 thousand people have become its victims in the country.
