Chinese Foreign Ministry: to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, it is necessary to return to the Minsk agreements

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, said that in order to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine, the parties should return to compliance with the Minsk agreements. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
“To resolve the Ukrainian issue, we will still have to return to the Minsk agreements, this is the starting point. This is a fundamental document recognized by all parties, and its provisions must be implemented,” Wang Yi said. He also urged to avoid escalation of the conflict and not to inflate the crisis.
“Regional security cannot be guaranteed by strengthening and even more so by expanding military blocs,” the Chinese minister said. According to him, the security of one state cannot be ensured at the expense of the security of other countries. Wang Yi also condemned following the Cold War mentality and called on the United States, the EU, Ukraine and Russia to solve problems through diplomacy.
Also in a conversation with Blinken, the Chinese Foreign Minister said that the United States should stop trying to influence the holding of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. Wang Yi also called on the United States to stop “playing with fire” on the Taiwan issue and abandon attempts to form anti-Chinese deterrence forces in the Asian region.
