Recall that LinkedIn remained the only working American social network in China until recently. Now it turned out that the country had lost her too.
Thus, Microsoft, which is the parent company of LinkedIn, announced its decision to close the Chinese version of the professional social network. Thus, not a single working American social network remained on the territory of China. According to representatives of LinkedIn, the shutdown of the social network in China is due to “an overly complex operating environment and exorbitant requirements of the Chinese authorities.”
Back in March of this year, LinkedIn introduced a restriction on the registration of new accounts on social networks in China. As it turned out, the establishment of new accounts could be contrary to the current requirements of Chinese law. Among other things, the Chinese regulator turned to LinkedIn with a demand to tighten content moderation, giving social networks about 30 days for this.
