The claims of the artificial origin of the coronavirus are false. This was stated by the representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying, RIA Novosti reports.
According to her, “low-quality lies and rumors contrary to expectations” are being disseminated by a high-ranking US official – US Deputy National Security Adviser Matthew Pottinger. “I hope the American side will clarify whether this is Pottinger's personal opinion or the official position of the US administration,” Hua Chunying said.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman recalled that experts have long denied the theory of a virus leak from the laboratory. In this regard, she indicated that Washington must provide evidence of its statements.
Earlier, Pottinger said during a video conference that it was a leak from a laboratory in Wuhan, China that was the most likely version of the origin of the coronavirus. However, he did not provide any evidence.
