Chinese leader Xi Jinping, despite the invitation of US President-elect Donald Trump, will not go to his inauguration on January 20.

The event will be attended by the Chinese ambassador to the United States and his wife. According to the publication's sources, other officials from Beijing may also join them.
“Officials have appointed staff to handle diplomatic protocol at the festivities,” the publication writes.
Recall that Xi's invitation, delivered outside official diplomatic channels, caught both Beijing and U.S. allies by surprise. Chinese officials, accustomed to strict protocol and keenly aware of the power dynamics in U.S.-China relations, were surprised by Trump's intentions. The invitation comes at an already tense time between the countries.
Several Western diplomats were also surprised by the decision to invite Xi, given the differing views on China among members of Trump's team. The officials said it could become a source of tension both within the administration and in geopolitical relations.
