China announces arrival date of WHO experts to study the origin of COVID-19

World Health Organization (WHO) experts will arrive in China on Thursday, January 14 to study the origins of the coronavirus. This was announced by the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, the corresponding statement was published on the official website.

According to the department, the date of arrival of the specialists was agreed upon after bilateral consultations. International experts, together with Chinese colleagues, will study the origins of COVID-19.

Earlier, the head of the WHO, Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus, reported that the experts of the organization were faced with a denial of entry to China to investigate the origin of the coronavirus. He accused the Chinese authorities of not obtaining the necessary permits for the experts to arrive in China. The head of WHO clarified that he had already discussed the problem with the Chinese authorities and received assurances that Beijing would speed up the procedure for issuing the necessary permits.

An outbreak of pneumonia COVID-19 caused by a novel coronavirus was first recorded at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, China. On March 11, 2020, WHO announced that the situation could be characterized as a pandemic. By January 6, 2021, the number of cases of coronavirus infection in the world exceeded 86 million.
