Parents strongly opposed the translated children's comic strip about the love and friendship of two princesses and are seeking to remove it from the libraries of Ukrainian schools. REN TV writes about it.
The book by the New Zealand author is a new reading of the famous tale of Rapunzel. However, in the comic, the girl does not marry a prince, but a princess, black and with a mohawk.
The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine bought a comic strip for schools across the country. But the parents of the students opposed and are not going to give up until the scandalous work is removed from the libraries of educational institutions, the channel notes.
According to UNIAN, 666 thousand hryvnias (about 1.7 million rubles) were spent on the purchase of comics for schools. At the same time, the publishing house “Ridna Mova” emphasized that the book speaks about “the importance of one's own choice, about the realization that people are different and about tolerance for this.”
“The comic is very cautious about the themes of romance and tolerance of different gender behaviors. There are no frank scenes there and there cannot be, ”the publishing house noted.
Rambler wrote that earlier the topic of same-sex love was touched upon by RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan. The Russian journalist posted on Instagram a video about an American book about a knight and a prince, called for tolerance, but spoke out against LGBT propaganda, which “may well motivate (and motivates) a huge number of rushing teenagers to follow it.”
