Half of the children who have had COVID-19 had at least one symptom of the disease for four months. Scientists reported about such problems as a result of research, Izvestia reports.
So, among the most common consequences of coronavirus, experts found insomnia, chest tightness, fatigue, pain in muscles and joints, as well as difficulty concentrating.
An international team of scientists from Italy, Great Britain and Russia led by Piero Valentini of the Institute for Global Health Research (Rome) investigated the presence and duration of COVID-19 symptoms in children. As a result, it turned out that after four months from the onset of the infection, 42 percent of children recovered completely, just over a third complained of one or two signs of the disease, and about a quarter had more than three symptoms.
As the authors of the study emphasize, during the coronavirus pandemic, children were largely ignored, since in this group the disease is milder than in adults.
Russian experts did not rule out that such consequences appeared due to the coronavirus, but recalled that other diseases are ways to cause similar consequences.
Earlier, the chief sanitary doctor of Russia, State Duma deputy Gennady Onishchenko said that children should not be vaccinated against coronavirus, as they tolerate the disease more easily and without serious consequences. At the same time, Onishchenko urged adult citizens to be vaccinated. He stressed that this is especially necessary for citizens from risk groups for medical reasons.
