Giovanna Antonelli is a Brazilian film and theater actress, TV presenter and producer. She is well known to the Russian audience from the TV series “Tropikanka”, “Family Ties” and “Clone”. In the early 2000s, millions of viewers gathered in front of TV screens to see the next series of melodrama with her participation, and special connoisseurs of the series are still reviewing them.

“I hate dancing”: the role of Giovanna Antonelli
Giovanna Antonelli was born on March 18, 1976 in the Brazilian carnival capital of Rio de Janeiro. The girl's father was a famous opera singer, and her mother was a professional ballerina, which may have played a role in the choice of her future profession. Already at the age of 11, Giovanna played on the stage of an amateur theater, and from her parents she passed on a talent for singing and dancing.
The girl's cinematic career began at the age of 16 – she first appeared in the melodrama “You Decide”, two years later she played in the TV series Tropicana, but she gained real fame in Brazil thanks to her role as Capita in the TV series Family Ties. Now the actress says that it was one of the most important jobs in her life.
“It was a turning point in my career. I did a lot of interesting and difficult work to play a character with a soul, some nuances and conflicts. I love to play popular characters and present the audience with agonizing choice of favorite. Undoubtedly, the sensitivity of Manoel Carlos (editor's note – the director of the series) in telling our stories touched people's hearts, ”the actress says in her interviews.
Real popularity outside Brazil came to Giovanna with the role of Jadi in the melodrama “Clone”. The series tells about the way of life of Muslims, which has never been discussed in such detail in Brazilian films before. In addition, cloning became an important theme of the melodrama. Series scriptwriter Gloria Perez admits that the cloning of Dolly the sheep prompted her to write “The Clone”.
In order to get the role of Jadi, Giovanna Antonelli had to put an Arabic accent. In addition, Antonelli had to practice dancing for more than ten hours a day, although in her interviews the actress admits that she did not like this particular occupation.
“I couldn’t tell anyone that I don’t like dancing because I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to star in a film. I hate to dance, I'm terrified of it. If you want to drive me crazy, then make me dance, ”says Giovanna Antonelli.
After the release of the series “Clone” on the screens, the actress played in 15 more series and nine films. Antonelli's latest work to date is the mini-series Daughters of Eve, which premiered this year on International Women's Day.
“Leo and I live very well and happily”: how was the actress's personal life?
The personal life of the actress is as varied as her roles. In total, four of her novels are known, although only two chosen ones became official husbands. For the first time, Giovanna married a businessman Ricarda Medina, with whom the artist had known since high school. However, the marriage did not work out – the couple did not live together for four years. The couple divorced in 2001.
The second chosen one of Antonelli was the same Murilo Benicio, who played Lucas in the TV series “Clone”. It is rumored that this relationship was the reason for the separation of Giovanna Antonelli and Ricardo Medina. However, this news indescribably delighted fans – the novel from the TV screen smoothly flowed into life. In 2005, the couple had a son, Pietro, after whose birth the actors parted.
In 2007, the actress got married again, this time the American entrepreneur Roberto Lokascio became her chosen one. But this marriage did not last longer than four months: the reason for the divorce was Murilo Benicio, who did not give his permission to take his son abroad.
To date, the actress is happily in an unofficial marriage with Brazilian director Leonardo Nogueira. The lovers met in 2009 on the set, and in 2010 they became the parents of two twins – Antonia and Sophia.
“Leo and I live very well and happily. After 12 years of living together, we got to know each other well. I really respect him as a director, he respects me as an actress. We exchange ideas on the set. Leo is very talented, ”says the actress in her interviews.

Earlier, Giovanna said that she plans to retire at 45, but now in her interviews she admits that she decided to postpone her retirement for several more years.
“I'm already thinking about retiring, saying goodbye. I'm not going to stay in this crazy life that I live in anymore, no. I wanted to retire at 45, but since I'm in full swing, I'm going to work for another five years. My acting career is a passion. One of my greatest pleasures is playing. But in the next five years, I intend to leave, ”says the actress.
In addition to acting, Antonelli is engaged in business – she owns a network of 60 beauty salons in Brazil. In addition, Giovanna launches a line of products under her own name: nail polishes, perfumes, semi-precious stones and bags.
