Chief Rabbi of Moscow did not want to support the war against Ukraine/Collage of Channel 24

The Russians are doing everything they can to justify the war against Ukraine. Therefore, all adequate people are trying to leave the toxic territory.

The Russian invaders decided that if their tame ROC supported the war against Ukraine, then other religious leaders could take such a step. The calculations of the Russians failed again.

Pinchas Goldschmidt left Russia

The authorities of the Russian invaders decided to force the chief rabbi of Moscow Pinchas Goldshmidt to support the so-called “special operation” in Ukraine. He refused, because he was not going to take the side of the Nazis and justify the war.

In early May, Goldschmidt left for Hungary, where, together with his wife Dara, he raised money to help refugees. Then the family was forced to go to Jerusalem, because the rabbi's father was hospitalized. After his departure, the position was taken by David Ushuvaev, although the Russian rabbis again elected Goldschmidt. He has held the position for over 33 years.

Russia's war against Ukraine: a brief update on recent events

  • Ukraine has carried out another exchange of bodies with the Russians. It was held in a 50-50 format.
  • The threat of rocket attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities in the Black Sea remains. Now there are 4 ships and a submarine there, in total they are equipped with about 30 cruise missiles.
  • German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that now only the United States provides more support to the Armed Forces than his country. He also said that “it is necessary to maintain a dialogue with Russia”, to which he received a harsh response from the President of Lithuania.
  • In Mariupol, the Russian invaders are building a ghetto in which they mock civilians in all possible ways. In particular, they came up with a “challenge” of how people should fight for their “humanitarian aid”, because there is no food at all in the city and there are big problems with drinking water. The Russians have come up with lists and queues, and people have to fight to get food. Out of desperation, many people have to use products of very poor quality.
