Channel One, the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), as well as Ostankino Radio House announced the suspension of their participation in the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). It is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to representatives of the channels, this decision was made due to the politicization of this organization.

“The last straw was the decision of the EBU Executive Council to remove Russia from the Eurovision Song Contest this year,” the statement reads.

The decision to remove Russia from Eurovision was made on February 25th. The organizers of the competition explained this by the unprecedented crisis that has developed in Ukraine.
