There was only a 1-1 draw against Sheriff Tiraspol in the first leg of the third qualifying round.

Debutant for Red Star: team defender Aleksandar Dragovic in Graz

Aleksandar Dragovic will have to keep working hard for another Champions League participation in his career. With his new club Red Star Belgrade it was only enough to draw a 1-1 draw against Sheriff Tiraspol, the champions of the Republic of Moldova, in the third qualifying round on Tuesday evening.

Dragovic played through as usual, the Serbian champions fell behind in minute 33 and equalized in the last minute of the first half. The second leg will take place in Tiraspol next week.

Should Red Star make the promotion, there could be a politically explosive duel in the Balkans in the play-off for the Champions League, the last qualifying round. Because the climber would meet the winner of the duel between Dinamo Zagreb and Legia Warsaw. The first leg between the Croatians and the Poles will take place in Zagreb on Wednesday.

Schwab and Murg lose

On Wednesday, Peter Stöger will also be in the Champions League with his new club. Ferencvaros Budapest will host Slavia Prague in the first leg and are underdogs against the Czech champions.

In the new competition, the UEFA Europa Conference League, there was a defeat for two Austrian legionnaires on Tuesday. Stefan Schwab (played through) and Thomas Murg (from minute 69) lost 2-1 with PAOK Saloniki at the Bohemian Football Club in Dublin. The second leg in Thessaloniki will take place on August 12th.
