Kick-off for a common future! The two soccer referees Bibiana Steinhaus and Howard Webb got married.
Red roses instead of red cards! Bibiana Steinhaus (D) and Howard Webb (GB) have tied the knot. The duo is best known to football fans – both were referees for many years and led big games.
Steinhaus and Webb married during the international break at the end of March. “Unfortunately, due to the Corona regulation, Howard and I could only take this important step in pairs. Not even witnesses were allowed. Of course, there was no honeymoon either,” Steinhaus is quoted in the “Bild” newspaper.
Steinhaus ended her career on the pitch in September, but is still active as a video referee in the German Bundesliga. Webb quit back in 2014. The 49-year-old whistled the 2010 Champions League final between Bayern and Inter Milan (0: 2) and the World Cup final between the Netherlands and Spain (0: 1 nV).
Austrian supporters remember him most of all from his 2008 European Championship. Webb headed the game against Poland in Vienna, whistling a controversial penalty for the ÖFB team in the finish – Ivica Vastic made it 1-1.
