On the windows of the Russian segment of the International Space Station, cavities were found that threaten the tightness of the ISS, said Vladimir Soloviev, General Designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia.
Caverns were found on seven of the twenty portholes. As the cosmonaut told RIA Novosti, the cavities can be covered with sealed covers, but there is no point in using the station without windows.
As a reminder, the day before, during the survey of the ISS Russian segment, the cosmonauts found new blind cracks in the first and oldest module of the station – Zarya. Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of the state corporation Roscosmos, said that special equipment was delivered to the ISS to study the cracked module.
As the site kp.ru wrote, earlier Solovyov announced a high degree of deterioration of the Russian segment of the station. According to him, 80% of the systems of the Zvezda module have exceeded the warranty period.
