A hot air balloon with 21 people on board caught fire and crashed in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.
The tragedy occurred on Saturday, June 21, Metropoles reports.
Local residents posted photos and videos on social media showing the balloon catching fire and falling.
The incident occurred during a flight over the city of Praia Grande, which is located in the south of the state of Santa Catarina. This city is often called the capital of canyons and the capital of hot air balloons.
Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred near a local medical facility.
There were 21 people on board the aircraft when it crashed, 13 of whom survived, but eight died.
The victims were given medical assistance and hospitalized.
The state police will investigate the case.
Earlier, in Turkey, two hot air balloons carrying tourists crashed – one person died, 12 were injured.
