A plane crash occurred in the United States, killing 67 people. The tragedy occurred due to a collision between a passenger plane and a Black Hawk helicopter.

According to preliminary information, the American Airlines plane was approaching Reagan Airport in a standard corridor. At the same time, the helicopter with the call sign “Pet-25” was performing a scheduled training flight, using night vision goggles.
According to the audio interception of the conversations, the airport dispatcher warned the helicopter crew about the approach of a passenger plane with the code CRJ and gave the command to maneuver. The helicopter pilot confirmed that he saw the plane and asked for permission to maneuver, but the collision could not be avoided.
US President Donald Trump expressed condolences to the families of the victims and announced his intention to strengthen aviation security. He criticized the administration of his predecessor Joe Biden, noting the need to select professional air traffic controllers.
The New York Times reported that Reagan Airport was facing a shortage of air traffic controllers. On the evening of the crash, only one employee was negotiating with both aircraft, although this is a job for two. And according to CNN, the airport is staffed by dispatchers at only 85%, which significantly increases their workload.
Recall that the Pentagon banned all military personnel of the unit whose helicopter collided with the passenger plane from flying for 48 hours.
