The American company Valisure conducted research on antiseptics on the market and found that some of them contain a cancer-causing substance – benzene. This is reported by Bloomberg.
A substance hazardous to health was found in products that hit the market in the midst of a pandemic, when popular brands of sanitizers were in short supply. The company found that benzene was found in 17 percent of the disinfectant bottles. At the same time, eight percent of the bottles contained an amount of the substance that exceeded the limit set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). According to the management, this concentration of benzene can be tolerated by a person “for a relatively short period of time.”
It is noted that most of the products that contained high levels of the hazardous substance were produced in the United States and China.
Earlier, Roskachestvo reported that there are practically no original disinfectants on the Russian retail market, the effectiveness of most has not been proven. The head of the department, Maxim Protasov, said that all antiseptics on the market are divided into disinfectants and perfumery and cosmetic products with declared bactericidal properties.
