~6 0~p>The agreement now requires the approval of the Governor General of Canada.
Senate Canada adopted in the third reading a bill that implements the modernized Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA).
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Yulia Kovaliv reported this.
The updated agreement was signed on September 22, 2023 during the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to Ottawa.
In February of this year, the House of Commons of the Canadian Parliament supported the agreement with a majority vote and sent it to the Senate for approval.
The agreement requires the approval of the Governor General of Canada, who must complete the ratification of CUFTA in Canada.
“A modernized Free Trade Agreement, including sections on digital trade, financial services and investment protection, will be an important tool for helping Ukrainian companies enter the Canadian market and for Canadian companies to participate in the recovery,” noted Yulia Kovaliv.
Recall that Canada is allowed to station its troops in Ukraine, but they named a condition.
