Canadian Foreign Minister of Canada François-Philippe Champagne refused to believe Iran's statements about the reasons for the crash of the Boeing plane of Ukraine International Airlines near Tehran. He stated this on the air of the CBC TV channel, RIA Novosti reports.
“We saw how rockets were launched at the plane, and that, for me, raises all sorts of questions,” Champagne said. He added that Canada will continue to investigate the tragedy for its part, and will take all steps to identify those responsible.
Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevgeniy Yenin said that Iran had withdrawn the proposal to pay compensation to the families of those killed in the Boeing-737 plane crash.
On January 8, a Boeing 737-800 flew from Tehran to Kiev and was shot down immediately after takeoff. All 167 passengers and nine crew members were killed: citizens of Ukraine, Iran, Canada and other countries. Iran admitted that the plane was shot down by the military by mistake. The Iranian government has refused to budget for next year 200 million euros for these purposes.
