The Canadian captain of the Barys club of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) Darren Dietz named the main stereotype about the Russians. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Dietz said Russians are considered rude and tough abroad. According to the athlete, this is due to the sound of the Russian language, therefore, when he began to learn Russian, his opinion changed. “When you understand the context, it’s not true at all. But this is a stereotype, I don’t know why it took hold. Having got the opportunity to communicate with people, I quickly became convinced that the Russians are kind and welcoming, ”added the 27-year-old Canadian.
