Ak Bars forward Eric Fer remembered how he played for the National Hockey League (NHL) club Washington Capitals with Russian Alexander Ovechkin. His words are quoted on the website of the citizens of Kazan.
The Canadian hockey player said that during the time spent with Ovechkin and Yevgeny Kuznetsov, he learned a lot of Russian words, but he could not speak the language. “It seems that I have learned the whole Russian mat, but I will not repeat it on camera!” Fer added.
The forward moved to Ak Bars in December this year. He played for Washington from 2005 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2015. Fehr won the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In the summer of 2020, Russian footballer Fyodor Smolov, who at that time played for the Spanish “Celta”, told how he taught his teammates Russian mat. He posted a video where he asked other team players to use foul language.
