Canada will send anti-tank weapons systems and upgraded ammunition to Ukraine. The country's authorities also plan to abandon Russian oil .

This was announced on Monday, February 28, by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau .

“Today we are announcing our intention to ban all imports of crude oil from Russia, an industry that has been of great benefit to President Putin and his oligarchs.

The industry accounts for more than a third of Russia's federal budget revenue, and although Canada has imported very little in recent years, the measure sends a powerful message.

Defense Minister Anita Anand said that Canada would provide Ukraine with 100 Carl-Gustaf anti-tank weapons systems and 2,000 missiles.

Earlier, Canada announced the imposition of sanctions against Vladimir Putin and his closest circle of advisers. Also, the Canadian government supported the disconnection of Russia from the SWIFT system.
